Ballet Concerto’s Lecture Demonstration program is designed to introduce ballet to students in elementary school. The program exhibits the art of ballet in an educational and entertaining manner through demonstration of dance with commentary from performers. By the end of the program, students gain an enriched understanding of ballet, its history and its place in modern society.
Each year, Ballet Concerto presents hour-long education sessions to students at nine elementary schools in and around Fort Worth. The presentations are given by professional dancers as well as young, aspiring dancers. During the presentation, dancers demonstrate exercises from a typical ballet class as well as a short performance consisting of classical ballet and contemporary work. Audience participation is also a part of the program, which concludes with a Q&A session.
Demonstrations are held in late February and early March.
